About me

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Ireland, working in community mental health. I studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed higher specialist training in General Adult and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry through the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. I currently work as Clinical Lead within a multidisciplinary community mental health team, alongside teaching and supervising junior doctors.

I hold Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, and have completed further training in healthcare management, clinical education, and integrative psychiatry. I have also pursued training across a range of psychotherapeutic approaches, which I bring into my clinical work in a practical and integrated way.

I began my medical career in Malaysia, where I worked for five years, including two years in psychiatry. Alongside hospital work, I was involved in voluntary and community settings, which broadened my appreciation of human suffering across different contexts. My own life journey, together with my work in Ireland, has shaped how I see people not only in terms of symptoms, but in how culture, belief systems, and life circumstances influence how individuals make sense of what they are going through. It has also instilled in me an ongoing awareness that there is always more to learn.

My approach is grounded in a biopsychosocial framework, while recognising that each person’s situation extends beyond any single model. I aim to understand the whole person, including their inner world, physical health, life context, and the values and beliefs that shape how they interpret their difficulties. My work is psychotherapeutically informed and shaped by integrative psychiatry, allowing me to draw on a range of perspectives where relevant to develop clarity and guide practical, individualised recommendations.

I place strong value on clarity and psychoeducation. My aim is to work collaboratively with each person to develop a deeper understanding, a sense of direction, and practical steps that can be taken forward. I am particularly drawn to working with complexity or uncertainty, where taking the time to think things through together can make a meaningful difference.

At its core, my work is about making sense of human experience in a way that is thoughtful, grounded, and useful.
